Injectable fillers have made major advancements in the past two decades and offer a terrific cosmetic solution for patients who desire specific results without surgery. During your consultation, we will discuss the various fillers that are available today and will work to understand your aesthetic goals so that the best filler choice can be made. We currently offer Restylane® and Juvéderm™.

Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Comprised of Hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that already exists in the human body, it is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA,™ or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. At DentaCare Associates we are proud to offer our patients the highest quality of treatment to help them achieve their cosmetic goals.

During your appointment, the areas of the injection sites will be marked and thoroughly cleaned prior to the treatment. With the comfort of local anesthesia, the Restylane filler will be injected into the skin using a fine needle where added volume is desired. After each injection, light pressure and a cooling ointment are applied. Other than feeling a tingling sensation and some visible redness in the areas of the injections, there are usually no other side effects. Most patients are able to return to work with no downtime after their 15-30 minute Restylane procedure.

The results following a Restylane injection will be seen immediately and can last up to a full year. Patients are generally thrilled with the fast-acting, visible results that the injections provide.

Juvéderm™ is an option for wrinkle reduction and lip plumping. Juvéderm, a type of Hyaluronic acid, is an injectable product used like Restylane or Radiesse, but is brought to you by Allergen, best known as the makers of Botox® Cosmetic. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in our skin, muscles, and tendons. It has the unique characteristic of adding volume by grabbing and holding many times its own weight in hydration. Juvéderm is a synthetically produced (so there is little risk of allergic reaction) hyaluronic acid in a smooth gel base. In a rather brief, in-office procedure, Dr. Riettie injects it into precise points on the face to improve the appearance of nasolabial folds, or smile lines from the corners of the nose to the mouth. Juvéderm’s light texture is also ideal for lip augmentation and to fill hollowed facial scars.

The product works in two ways. First, it adds immediate volume to fill wrinkles. Second, the cross-linked hyaluronic acid continues to pull water molecules into the injected area for additional improvement.

There is no downtime following an injections session, and results typically last six to nine months.
